Waveguide effective plasmonics with structure dispersion

Abstract Plasmonic phenomena on the surface between metal and dielectric have received extensive attention, boosted a series of exciting techniques. Plasmonics describes interaction light electronics shows great potential in nanophotonics, optoelectronic devices, quantum physics, surface-enhanced spectroscopy, etc. However, plasmonic are always suffering from inherent loss issue materials at optical frequency, which has restricted further applications plasmonics. In this review, we focus technique waveguide effective plasmonics, is feasible low-loss realization metamaterials lower frequency based structural dispersion. This review provides underlying physics plasmonics its varying classical concepts to novel devices. Finally, make brief discussion direction future researches prospect applications.
